BreakoutBand is a new social music platform where you can DJ live with friends, make your own songs and discover new artists. BreakoutBand provides the tools for aspiring young artists to spin, make beats, rap/sing and promote themselves – regardless of experience. We monetize through virtual goods purchased by our end consumers, as well as through partnerships with brands, entertainment companies, sports teams and professional aritsts/djs/producers.
Along with a great set of content and brand partners lining up for 2012, we have an exciting product roadmap across our site, Facebook and on mobile. The company is definitely primed for major growth in 2012. And this is where you come in.
We are looking for a nimble, hungry marketing director who is responsible for the acquisition of our users. Additionally, you will drive marketing efforts with our strategic marketing partners (brands, entertainment companies, artists and labels). You will be shaping and owning the community voice of BreakoutBand, so it is a big and awesome role. You will also be helping to drive PR, overall community buzz and event-based marketing efforts (festivals, colleges, etc.).
You will be responsible for setting and driving strategy, reporting directly to CEO. We need someone who can not only set and drive strategy but can execute through our early stages of growth.

Responsibilities
- Set, drive and execute overall user acquisition plan for the company across site, Facebook apps and mobile apps (coming soon)
- Nail the customer-facing voice of the brand, including all copy and editorial efforts on the site
- Drive our social media conversation with users and fans, staying creative and keeping the voice consistent
- Lead marketing efforts tied to key partnerships and campaigns with artists, labels, brands and entertainment partners
- Lead PR and buzz efforts, especially on the music/artist/label side
- Help organize event-based marketing efforts at festivals, colleges, conferences, etc.
- Develop and regularly refine marketing plan based on market feedback and opportunities
- Work closely with product manager to analyze user metrics, provide input on product roadmap and develop appropriate communication strategy with users
- Identify and execute efficient customer acquisition efforts across various channels
Experience
- 3+ years customer acquisition experience, in social gaming or consumer-facing entertainment platforms
- Strong brand positioning and copy skills – ability to shape voice and positioning of a consumer brand
- Ability to really communicate with an audience, ideally with experience in the teen and college-aged segment
- Social media experience
- Any previous work generating PR and buzz is a plus
- An understanding and interest in the social music space
- Ideally, some ties into the music community, specifically the hip hop and/or community
- We are looking for an enthusiastic, performance-driven self-starter and team player
- Previous start-up experience is a strong plus
